SEND in Cambridge

At In Toto Ed Cambridge, we are committed to creating a nurturing environment that provides personalised support for every student. Our Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) provision is designed to ensure that each student’s individual needs, as outlined in their EHCPs, are fully met, allowing them to access the education they deserve.

Collaborative approach to support

We work closely with parents, carers, and a range of professionals to provide comprehensive support for SEND students. Our team includes Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, and ELSA practitioners, all dedicated to creating the best educational experience for each student.

By building strong relationships with students and their families, we ensure ongoing communication and collaboration, allowing us to continually adapt our support to meet their evolving needs.

Meet: Charlie Blackman-Doyle

Charlie is the SENCO in Cambridge, ensuring that our students have the correct support by monitoring offering, progress and attainment, and working closely with the school teaching team to identify any additional needs that are not already documented or supported.

The SENCO also works with staff to advise on strategies, signposting and resources to ensure high-quality support is provided for all of our students. Alongside this the provision listed within each student’s EHCP is monitored by the SENCO and they support the deployment of this within the school.

Our SENCO will attend students’ annual reviews providing feedback and next steps for students, helping to develop their pathway to adulthood. Where potentially beneficial, referrals are identified and agreed the school SENCO will often lead on these.

“It is my pleasure to have the role of school SENCO at In Toto Ed Cambridge. I have worked with special educational needs for around ten years and am passionate about providing young people with SEND needs the best possible support. I am acutely aware that whilst we are lucky enough to have a wonderful staff team at In Toto Ed Cambridge, families often remain the best experts in how to meet students’ needs. We therefore work hard to engage families in creating and maintaining positive relationships to create plans, review progress and address barriers together all through effective communication.”

While Charlie will be your main point of contact for SEN, our Deputy Head Amy Hammond is also a qualified SENCO, and all of our staff are experienced in working with young people with complex needs.

Tailored support across the entire provision

Our SEND offering spans the entire educational offering, ensuring that all students, especially those with EHCPs, receive the specific support they need to thrive.

The SENCO works closely with all staff members to create a cohesive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and understood.

Empowering students to achieve their goals

The SEND department at In Toto Ed Cambridge is dedicated to helping students achieve their goals, embrace their unique strengths, and recognise the benefits of their neurodiversity.

We are fully aligned with the 2015 SEND Code of Practice, ensuring that all practices are in place to support our students in reaching their full potential.

Our priority is to nurture each student's individual needs, providing them with the support and encouragement they need to succeed in their educational journey.
